June 1998
While Sarah & Hannah went visiting Grandma and Grandpa Keller Barb and I
went on a little camping trip of our own to Utah.
Dinosaur National Monument in Colorado/Utah.
Campground by theYampa River.
Looks like I'm going somewhere important.
View from the camp site with the Yampa river in the foreground.
The Quarry at Dinosaur National Monument. This place was VERY VERY cool. There is a prehistoric riverbed where dead dinosaur bodies washed down and collected. The bodies were covered with sand and the bones fossilized. The riverbed has been tilted up over a million or so years and is now almost vertical. In the early 1950's scientists stopped removing skeletons and the park service put a structure over the site. So you walk into this pavilion and view the wall of bones.
How it is believed to have happened.
The wall of bones.
Note the head and neck in the center.
Barb next to the femur of a brontosaurus type dinosaur. That was a BIG animal!

Mark and Dorothee in Salt Lake City.

Our Bryce Canyon campsite.
Another view of the canyon. It is a very pretty place.
My Colorado cowgirl.
Just call me Tex!
Well that's it. We had a great time. It was the first time we had been on our
own (without kids) in at least 5 years.
Thanks to Grandma and Grandpa Keller.
